WP Agricultural Hay BalesMembers of the farming community facing hardship are to get a helping hand from a fundraising event for which WP Agricultural was a sponsor.

The annual Chichester National Farmers Union (NFU) Dinner, attended by farmers and others linked to agriculture in West Sussex, will see profits earmarked for The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI).

Darren Borras, Group Commercial Manager for WP Group, of which WP Agriculture is a trading division, was one of the guests for the dinner and an auction.

He said: “We are only too pleased to be able to play an active role in the regional farming community, both as the fuels management partner of choice for farmers and estates, advising on ways to minimise fuel bills and improve carbon footprints, and as a proud sponsor of the annual Chichester NFU Dinner.”

James Wiseman, NFU Group Secretary, Chichester, said: “We are most grateful to all of our sponsors it is only by the kind support from our sponsors and bidders that donations to the RABI are possible.”

The RABI was founded in 1860 and has an unbroken history of providing long-term care and emergency help.

Help is provided for retired farmers, farm workers and working farmers and their families who find themselves in financial difficulties.
The fundraiser, which included a dance, was held in a farm barn in Donnington, near Chichester, on Good Friday (April 22nd).
